Excoecaria Tricolor also known as buta buta or jungle fire plant is a species of plant in the genus Excoecaria. Additionally, the plant is native to India and China. The subtropical evergreen shrub with a woody stem, growing up to 1-2 meters high. The leaves are shiny, papery, and arranged oppositely. The surface is dark green and is the maroon underside. Leaves generally measure from 6-14 cm by 2-4 cm. The plant is an absolute pleasure to watch when placed in outdoor conditions.
Moreover, the most distinctive feature of this beauty is the maroon color of the underside of the leaves. In tropical countries, the variegated variety Firestorm (pictured above), is often grown as a hedge.
