Ice plant is a hardy succulent, perennial ground cover with beautiful daisy-like flowers. The ice plant is not called because it is cold hardy, but because the flowers and leaves seem as covered in ice crystals. The plant can attain a height of 3 to 6 inches tall and 2 feet or wider. Ice plant flowers grow in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9 and will bloom for the summer and fall. The foliage of this plant is evergreen and hence they are one of the most preferred choices as a ground cover.
Once ice plants are established they require less maintenance. As succulents, they need very little watering and thrive in drought-like conditions.
