Mimosa Pudica - Touch me not is perhaps the most unique plants about which we all wanted to know since our childhood, often referred to as shy plants or chhui mui. It is also known as touch me not. The plant is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea family. Touch me not is grown for its curiosity value as the plant folds its leaves inward when touched or shaken, defending themselves from harm and later open gradually. The plant has got the Royal horticulture society's award of garden merit.

The stem is erect in young plants but becomes creeping or trailing with age. The leaves are compound with one or two pinnae pairs. The species is native to South and Central America but today it's a pantropical weed.

The plant is not shaded tolerant and is found in soil with low nutrient concentration! Hence, the plant doesn't need much pampering.

Mimosa Pudica - Touch me not would definitely add a sense of elegance to your garden. If you'd like to check out more outdoor plants for your garden, click here to find more in the collection!
