Things you need to know

Plant your hyacinth bulbs in a sunny or partially shady location.Aim for at least six to eight hours of sunlight per day for the plants.

Let the ground dry out between waterings. If the bulbs are left in cool, moist soil for too long, they will decay. Depending on your climate, it's usually once or twice a week.

Hyacinths generally prefer cool temperatures, such as those found outdoors in early spring. Keeping them in a cool location will prolong the bloom time.

They like loose, well-drained soil and won't tolerate damp soils. When preparing or amending the soil, go light on the organic matter to avoid floppy stalks.
