Description
Echinocactus Grusonii is the botanical name of Barrel Cactus. It consists of two genus types, the Echinocactus and the Ferrocactus. The first genus type has a fuzzy crown of fine spines. Whereas the Ferrocactus are viciously thorned. Both can be grown as houseplants or arid gardens. These are an attractive addition to a succulent display. It requires a sunny location, minimal watering along, with well-drained soil.
Characterized by its ribbed and cylindrical shape, this cactus grows as tall as 10 feet in height. It is helpful for lost travelers in the desert due to its habitual growth. Caring for barrel cactus is not so difficult. It serves as a great plant for the beginning gardener.
