Poinsettia (Red)

Poinsettia (Red) is also known as Euphorbia Pulcherrima & is a shrub or small tree reaching 0.64 meters high. The plant consists of dark green dentate leaves 7–16 centimetres long. The coloured bracts which are usually red, with orange cultivars are often mistaken for flower petals due to their groupings as well as colours. Photoperiodism is used to create the colours of the bracts. These plants also require bountiful light during the day to produce the brightest colour.

Its flowers are unassuming which does not attract pollinators. They are grouped within small yellow structures found in the centre of each leaf bunch known as cyathia.
